Medical Physics

A Medical Physicist is a medical professional that may practice in one of the following areas:

• Radiation Oncology Physics
• Diagnostic Radiology Physics
• Nuclear Medicine Physics
• Medical Health Physics
• Medical Physics Research

The Medical Physicist's Role is multi faceted. The Medical Physicist works closely with Radiation Oncologists, Radiologists, Medical Dosimetrists, Radiation Therapists, X-Ray Technicians, Nurses, and Regulators. The Medical Physicist works with the Radiation Delivery Devices, Imaging Devices, and the software associated with both of these units. Medical Physicists ensure that all radiation equipment is safe for patient use. The clinical Medical Physicist is a must need for all Radiation Therapy Centers and large Imaging Departments.

There are many entry pathways into Medical Physics but in general, the position requires a minimum of a Masters Degree in Medical Physics.
